Work Out Your Salvation With Fear and Trembling
Dennis J. Ackman ·
Paul didn’t tell us to earn salvation. He told us to work it out with fear and trembling—to take the gospel seriously enough to stop living on guesses, excuses, and borrowed faith.
A man can stand in a storm and say he believes the road is there. But until he kneels, opens the Word, lets Jesus correct his direction, and takes the next right step, belief hasn’t become obedience.
Fear and trembling isn’t panic. It is holy seriousness. It is realizing salvation is too important to treat casually. We examine what we believe, bring it into the light, and let Jesus change the way we think and live.
And when we understand that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus—not by our performance—fear gives way to the peace that surpasses understanding.
“Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” — Philippians 2:12
“...the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:7 (WEB)
