A Modern Parable: Fear or Faith?

A Modern Parable: Fear or Faith?

A truck driver’s GPS told him to turn.

He looked up and saw a bridge too low for his truck.

He stopped.

He didn’t need to throw the GPS out the window. He needed to remember who was responsible for driving the truck.

That’s how I look at AI.

God gave us minds to think, the ability to reason, and the freedom to make choices. Having faith doesn’t mean checking our brains at the door. It means using those gifts with humility and responsibility.

We don’t have to reject something just because it’s new. We don’t have to trust it just because it sounds smart, either.

Ask questions. Check the facts. Consider the consequences. Does this help somebody? Could it hurt somebody? Does using it this way line up with what Jesus taught?

And don’t forget human connection.

Talk to people. Sit across the table from somebody. Look them in the eye. Listen instead of just waiting to answer. Technology can connect us across the world, but it should never make us forget the person standing right in front of us.

AI can give us information. It can offer ideas. It can even help us communicate. But it cannot replace the value of one human being truly being present with another.

And be willing to admit when we’re wrong. The freedom to think isn’t a guarantee that every thought we have is right.

AI can help us navigate, but we’re still responsible for what we believe, what we share, and what we do next.

Being afraid of everything isn’t discernment. Believing everything isn’t faith.

God gave us the ability to stop, examine, connect, and choose. Let’s use it.

A tool can help you think. It should never become your excuse to stop thinking—or stop talking to people.

Is technology helping you navigate—or have you handed it the wheel?
